Cheryl DeJong

Birthday - May 18

" I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord."                                           Psalm 40:1-3

Spiritual darkness is very prevalent among the 2.5 million Fulbe people of Guinea, West Africa. There are only about 100 Fulbe Christians in Guinea. The Muslim influence is strong, blinding people to the truth and keeping them in the bondage of fear. During my first two terms I worked to learn the language and culture of the Fulbe and to plant seeds of truth where I can. My main focus has been and will continue to be with women; interacting with them through friendship evangelism, leading one-to-one Bible studies, and discipling them.

In addition, I want to spend much time in prayer for the Fulbe people; alone, with my colleagues, and with Fulbe Christians. We continue to pray and wait patiently for the day when there will be a thriving church among the Fulbe.
